About this deal

As usual, we test all the vacuums we review, and the Dyson V8 was no exception. We tested only the models available in the US, and these are the Dyson V8 Animal, Animal, and Absolute. All the Dyson V8 variants come with a direct-drive cleaning head making them ideal for vacuuming carpets and embedded dirt. It pushes the stiff nylon bristles into the carpet pile, flushing out the hidden dirt, and dust particles. The results in the airflow test are consistent with the cleaning experiments as the V7 does surprisingly better on carpets, which we’ll go into next. How do the Dyson V7 and V8 clean?

With non-powered tools, the Dyson V8 runs for 42 minutes in low power, and 7 minutes when in high-power mode. When it comes to the powered cleaner head, the runtime was much shorter, with 26.5 minutes in low power mode and 7 minutes in max power.

While there are many differences between the two models, both offer similar functions. If you have bare floors, the Animal is the clear winner. It has the highest suction power, a large bin, and extra tools to clean crevices. The animal is better suited to carpeted floors. The motorhead is better for harder surfaces, but it is more expensive. The animal is a great option for pets and those with bare floors.

It did noticeably better with nothing wrapping after the nine-inch test, but the limit is eleven and twelve-inch hair. Tools out of the box As mentioned before, the V8 comes with a bunch of accessories, including a telescopic tube that’s perfect for general use. Every tool clips easily on and off the main handheld unit, even with one hand. The standard direct-drive head is great on pretty much any surface, but if you happen to buy the V8 Absolute, you’ll get a Soft Roller cleaning head that’s the best option for hard floors. You’re probably wondering: “What’s the difference between a Dyson VS. an animal?” The Dyson V8 motorhead can handle medium and low-pile carpets, but it won’t get the job done quite as well on low-pile carpets. Those photos don’t show the plowing effect of the motorhead’s direct drive. And while the motorhead will clean a lot of coffee grounds, which are fine, the V8 didn’t do so well on medium and low-pile carpets. Dyson v8 motorhead There’s also the option of getting the V7 Fluffy for people who live in homes with hard surfaces and don’t want to spend more for the higher-end V8

Hair care machine and accessories, which include, but are not limited to, the Dyson Supersonic™, Dyson Airwrap™, Dyson Corrale™, and Dyson Airstrait™ are not eligible for price matching. When it comes to recharging, it takes around 5 hours for the battery to recharge fully. This is quite a long time, and unfortunately, you can’t have a spare battery, as Shark did with the Shark IONFlex 2X. The vacuum has three charging lights, which indicate a low charge level, medium charge, and full charge. Usability Filtration– Even though the dust cup capacity varies from one model to the other, the filtration system is the same across all boards. Dyson V8 Absolute comes with two cleaning heads– a soft roller cleaner head and the direct-drive cleaner head. Cleans surface dirt better on carpets: The V7 scored 100% in seven of the eight tests and was a few percentage points better than the V8.

Dyson V8 Motorhead Cordless Vacuum Cleaner/Black,

The Dyson V8 Animal is a cordless vacuum cleaner with both hard floors and carpets. Its motor, suction, and dust bin are identical. However, the Animal motorhead does not have the fluffy head of the Absolute. Instead, it has a regular head, which works just as well. The two models are similar except for the price difference and the accessories. The Animal version is a little more powerful than the Absolute, with 40 minutes of run time when charged. The Animal model also has an up top adaptor and a tool bag. When it comes to filtration, the vacuums have been designed with two washable HEPA filters– a pre-motor filter in the middle of the cyclonic system, and a post-motor filter behind the motor. While these filters ensure that air is free from dust, bad odor, and allergens, they enhance the durability and efficiency of the motor. Unlike other models, this one doesn’t clog at all. Cleaning test results Third, the Fluffy attachment enables it to clean hard floors better than the MotorHead tool of the V7. Weight– The Dyson V8 vacuums have different attachments, and this leads to a negligible difference in the weight. The Absolute version can clean hard floors and carpet as it has the Fluffy and Direct Drive attachments. The Dyson V8 has a larger battery and motor than the V7, enabling it to run further and deep clean better for longer stretches. Learn more about how each Dyson cordless compares against each variant, where I’ll explain in detail the pros and cons and which variant is the better option for certain circumstances. Combination tool– The combo tool combines a brushing attachment and mini-upholstery, too, for cleaning the delicate surfaces. Yes, the tools of the V7 fit with the V8 and the other way around. If you can’t find a specific device from the V7 selection, then a V8 tool will be compatible with it. Of course, there are tradeoffs to take into consideration. First is the run time. Since the V7 has a smaller capacity battery, it won’t run as long as the V8.
