About this deal

I also loved the close relationship that Iris had with her brother Sonny. He was protective of her but not in an obnoxious way or OTT. My inner nosey hooker perked up at all the clues they were dropping. Anger management classes? “What happened?” I asked in a conspiratorial whisper.

She has published numerous critically acclaimed novels, including the Kulti series, and The Wall of Winnipeg and Me series. Iris and Dex did not like each other from the beginning. Dex saw Iris as an obligation. Iris saw Dex as a brute who made her angry and sad all the time and as a result she wanted to quit, but she needed the money. It is a kind of 'enemies to lovers' story, but the hatred will not last long because the book is really long and before it finishes you will probably have forgotten that they hated each other in the beginning. On top of the tension she feels working with a grumpy HOT asf man, her no-good father’s debt is biting Iris and Son in the rear. Iris has survived a lot- her cancer battle, the fatal cancer battle of her mom, the death of her grandma and the abandonment of her father, and NOW she has to deal with the pressure of finding her father so he can settle his debts, before they continue threatening her and her brother.I was not a fan of Dex to start out with, but he slowly made me warm up to him, and by the end, I ended up loving him. Iris was a character with so much strength and perseverance. There were moments I wanted to holler at her for keeping things, but overall I liked her so much! She and Dex made sort of an odd couple, but I loved them together! And even though it really scares the living crap out of me, I love you, and I want you to know that. Everything you've done for me..." Oh hell. I had to let out a long gust of breath. "Thank you. You're the best thing that ever yelled at me." I'd never been a fan of guys that looked like they'd gone to jail, but you'd have to be blind to not appeciate how good-looking the man was, even if he wasn't my type." It is rare I like the heroine as much as the hero in a book, but I really liked Iris, with her insults and "That's what she said" jokes and high fives. There was just something very endearing about her. My entire body exploded with electricity and fireworks that couldn’t be described, blood pounded through my ears and I went deaf.

Her heroines like in The Intimacy Experiment are cheerfully spunky, while her heroes are beta males who use emotion rather than physical strength to conquer their relationship problems. It'd been a last minute trip. Up until the moment I turned in the keys to my apartment, I hadn't been sure what exactly I was doing. Not that there were many options. I could either drive to Sonny's place in Texas or go up and crash on Lanie's couch in Cleveland. After living with Lanie for a year and knowing that I'd be staying with her and her parents, going to Sonny's hadn't really seemed like much of a decision. It captured the hearts of readers across the globe with its heartwarming tale of new love and relationships. On her second day in the job she hears him insulting her. And boy can this girl hold a grudge. It went on for a few weeks, but she is fully aware of how unreasonable it is in all honesty, she just cant help herself! Not only that but she’s the only one he’s ever been with that he’s completely BARE with, in EVERY way- from his body (no barrier needed 😉), to his mind, to his private collections of collectibles and memorabilia, to his inner turmoils and thoughts- no one else has gotten that from him, and they learn to trust each other- which means that when they finally move forward in their relationship, it is a SOLID foundation 🥰❤️. Gahhhh. I just love him.Dang MZ also accentuated Dex's Texan accent 🥺 Y'all I got so despo that I had to Google how Texan accent sounds like 😭

Her contemporary fiction like Something About You often includes relatable characters and focuses on everyday issues that most people face in their life, such as facing difficult decisions or knowing when to rely on someone you know. Good pacing: Her books are well-paced, and the storylines develop gradually, reaching a satisfying conclusion. But then again, Mom and Dad had kept me on the east coast for a reason. A reason I was clearly dumping into the garbage and possibly setting on fire. Synopsis: “Twenty-six-year-old Gaby Barreto might be a lot of things (loyal, sarcastic, one of the guys and a pain in the butt depending on which family member you ask), but dumb isn’t one of them. When her twin brother invites her to go on tour as his band’s merch girl, she isn’t exactly screaming at the top of her lungs with joy. What kind of life was I living if I let my fears steer me? This was a gift I’d forgotten to appreciate lately. For so long I’d been happy to just be alive but now...now I had Dex. I had my entire life ahead of me, and I needed to quit being a wuss and grab life by the balls. In this case, I’d take his nipple piercings. With an ever-growing fan base, Mariana Zapata has become a must-read author for lovers of contemporary and romance fiction.
